You can ask us to delete your MadNomads account and the personal data we hold about you at any time. This page explains how to make the request, what gets deleted, and what we are required by Indian law to keep.
1. Request deletion
Pick whichever option is easiest for you. We will action the request within 7 business days and confirm by email when it is done.
- From the app or web: sign in, open your dashboard and use the "Delete my account" option, or open a support ticket and pick the category Account → Delete my account.
- By email: write to support@madnomads.in from the address registered on your account, with the subject "Account deletion request". Include the phone number on file so we can verify ownership.
If you only want to delete specific data (for example, your saved searches, wishlist, profile photo, or reviews) without closing the account, email support@madnomads.in with subject "Data deletion request" and tell us what to remove.
2. What gets deleted
- Profile (name, avatar, traveller preferences, language).
- Saved listings, wishlists, and search history.
- Reviews and ratings you have posted (anonymised in aggregates).
- Marketing-email subscription and notification preferences.
- Device sessions and login tokens.
- For providers: business profile, draft and unpublished listings, calendar availability, and unverified KYC documents.
3. What we have to keep (and for how long)
Indian tax, accounting, anti-money-laundering and consumer-protection rules require us to retain certain records even after an account is closed. These are kept in restricted-access archives and used only to meet legal obligations:
- Completed bookings, invoices and refund records: 7 years (Income Tax Act, GST rules).
- Verified KYC documents for providers who have received payouts: 5 years after the last transaction (PMLA / FIU-IND).
- Fraud, abuse or safety-incident records tied to your account: up to 5 years, to protect other users.
- Anonymised analytics (aggregate counts with no personal identifiers): retained indefinitely.
Everything outside the list above is permanently deleted from our production database. Backups roll over within 30 days, after which the data is unrecoverable.
4. What happens to your bookings
- Past bookings: stay tied to the invoice record (legally required) but your profile is disassociated — the host sees only the booking details, not a live account.
- Upcoming bookings: we will ask you to either cancel them (subject to the host’s refund policy) or let them complete before we close the account.
- Open refund / dispute / payout cases: must be resolved before deletion can proceed.
5. After deletion
- You can no longer sign in with the deleted email or phone number.
- Reviews you wrote are removed; aggregate ratings on listings stay.
- You can sign up again later with the same email or phone, but it will be a brand-new account with no history.
